Yaneli Jimenez Carmona has joined the news staff at The Columbian for a paid 10-week summer internship. The Dee Ann Finken Endowed Internship is a partnership between The Columbian, Clark College and the Clark College Foundation. Yaneli is also a reporter at The Indy, the college’s student newspaper. The Historic Trust hired Erin Jaso Longfellow as an events facilities manager. She will help manage events and rentals at The Historic Trust properties such as Marshall House, Artillery Barracks, Red Cross Building and the Providence Academy Chapel and Providence Hall. Learn more at

Galina Burley was hired as the executive vice president of operations at Clark College following a nationwide search. The position oversees operations including facilities, business, finance, security and safety, marketing and more. Burley immigrated to Vancouver from Sochi, Russia, in 1991. She started taking English as a Second Language classes at Clark College, where she earned an associate degree. Burley also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Concordia University and a master’s degree in public administration from Troy University.

Rebecca O’Brien was hired as the executive director at the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington. She most recently was a program manager at Pima County Health Department in Tucson, Ariz. The clinic provides free care to community members who don’t have the means to afford health care. Learn more at

Tod Thayer was hired as executive director at Friends of the Carpenter, a nonprofit faith-based day facility. A lifelong Vancouver resident, he has 27 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, including with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, United Way of the Columbia Willamette, American Red Cross and others.
