Perhaps my comment “all movies are made to be entertaining,” could be higher phrased as “All movies have the potential to be entertaining,” because you do make a good point concerning the intent of the filmmaker. So going by that, I assume even those propaganda films may at some level be considered entertainment. It’s true that they weren’t supposed as entertainment, but identical to Irreversible, that truth doesn’t stop enjoyment from being present in it. If a transferring image was shot with a digital camera and imprinted on celluloid, then there’s already sufficient there to be appreciated, and therefore, enjoyed. Since it’s in a style with low prestige , a lot of people would disagree. But the point I was making an attempt to make is that the definition of entertainment goes far past what most people thinks it is(i.e. guns, explosions, and sex).
