The History of Soccer. The history of modern soccer can be traced back to England in the 1800’s. Numerous countries and cultures claim they created soccer long before this time, but we are talking about the modern sport including the rules and guidelines. In all likelihood there were many variations of the game dating back to ancient times. Another great story involves the beheading of an 8th century Prince of Denmark. The story states that the citizens used his head as the ball and that’s how the game was created. There were even laws passed to prevent people from playing the game because it resulted in the death of that specific individual. Generally speaking modern soccer can be traced back to England in the 1800’s and was commonly played by wealthy individuals. Soccer then made its way to the middle class where it soon gained popularity. Soccer was soon adopted by the rest of the world and then as the years passed became its most popular sport. Many countries love soccer more than anything else.
5 Uses For Teams
The London Football Association was founded in 1863 and is responsible for the formation of the current rules we use today. Soon after that professional teams were born and leagues formed.
Understanding Activities
Soccer spread pretty quick and was first played in the Olympics in 1900. When the Olympics finished the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) was formed and the World Cup played shortly after in 1930. We now compete in the World Cup every four years. In the United Stated soccer has never gained the widespread popularity of the rest of the world even though the United States Soccer Federation was formed in 1913. Just about every other country calls soccer football, but this is confusing to Americans because they have another sport they call football. Soccer is becoming more popular in the US among schools and colleges. The sport of soccer is continuously evolving since its inception. Some of the first improvements in the game were to the ball and equipment. Soccer balls are now made of leather and not animal bladders and hand sewn wads of cloth. Robber was invented in the 1800’s and led to the invention of rubber soccer balls. When FIFA formed they standardized the type of soccer ball that was to be used in regulation play. Today we use inflatable soccer balls that are light enough to be headed without knocking the player unconscious. Soccer has no signs of slowing down any time soon and actually shows signs of increased popularity. You should give soccer a shot and play a game, or watch it on television.
